Free Government Contraception Scheme

Tarbert Medical Centre offers appointments free of charge for consultations to assess your contraception needs.

To access this free service, you must meet the eligible criteria.

• Women aged 17yrs to 31 yrs.
• Living in Ireland hold a PPS Card and form of identification of date of birth such as a passport or driving license.
• At Booking an appointment advise if you hold the following Medical Card, Long-term Illness Card.

The Services Available from the Free Contraception Scheme.

• The 1st contraception consultation to discuss your options.
• Prescriptions issued by a doctor for contraception (Pill) will be dispensed free of charge at participating pharmacies.
• Choice of long-acting reversable contraception (LARC) such as Implanon, IUD, IUS (coils) Implanon implant.
• Contraceptive Injection (Depo-provera).
